Synopsis:
First accumulating snow of the year is on track for Monday morning. Snow begins after 3am Monday morning becoming potentially heavy around sunrise and continuing until late morning. Snow accumulations between 2-4 inches are likely. Roads will become snow covered and travel will become difficult.
Discussion:
An area of low pressure will develop to our south as colder air filters in from the north. The combination of the two will produce accumulating snow to the area. Snow begins around 3am becoming heavy by sunrise. Initially temperature will be to warm to accumulate. However, temperatures will drop below freezing by sunrise, snowfall rates will increase, visibility will drop and roads will become hazerdous. Snow continues until about lunchtime. It will be breezy so some blowing snow is possible as well. Total snow accumulation 2-4 inches are likely with higher amounts possible. There is a very tight gradient between significant snow to little snow with this storm so stay tuned updates.
What Does it mean:
Snow covered roads, and low visibility are likely. Hazerdous travel conditions are likely during the morning commute. Please use caution if traveling.
